Connecticut began attracting West Indians in the 1940s when World War II ushered in employment opportunities in the United States.

The West Indian Foundation, Inc. encourages a strong and stable economic status for West Indian Americans in the Greater Hartford community through promotion of education, economics and skill development, as well as the preservation and perpetuation of West Indian culture.

We, Caribbean Americans, support a strong and stable community. Collectively, we determine and design the world we deserve. As we enter this new phase in our world, many ask, “What can we do?” We are part of the solution.“
